The Prudent Plastic Surgeon
In this practical post, Dr. Frey goes over the process of buying a real estate investment, step by step. In summary, the steps he reviews are:
- Secure financing
- Look for properties
- Go see the property
- Evaluate/Analyze the property
- Put in an offer or walk away
- Sign the contract and attorney review
- Inspection/Due diligence period
- Escrow, Insurance, Mortgage Commitment and Waiting
- Closing
- “All the rest”
I like the way he breaks it down! Aside from maybe switching the first two steps, I agree with the order of operations here. It’s basically the same steps you’d follow for purchasing a primary residence, except for the analysis part.

The Darwinian Doctor
In this post, I put myself in the shoes of your average patient and tried to explain why it feels so rushed when they come to visit their physician. I go over a lot of the facts of life as a physician, including decreasing insurance reimbursement, the challenges inherent to the electronic medical record system, and other reasons why we always have one hand on the doorknob.
Do you agree with my reasoning here? Let me know after you read the whole post: Why Your Doctor Visit Feels Rushed
