The Prudent Plastic Surgeon
In this post, Dr. Frey gives us a transparent look into the finances behind a tropical getaway for their family of five (2 adults and 3 kids), plus mother-in-law. They packed up and headed to the Bahamas for a week of fun in the sun. The trip was planned around a professional conference for Dr. Frey, after which they tacked on a week-long additional stay. What’s the damage? Here’s a preview:
- Hotel costs: $4,999.56 for two rooms
- Flight costs: $3,692.55
- Parking and taxis: $290.28
- Food and activities: $4,149.26
Total costs exceeded $13,000. Was it worth it? Take a look at the post to find out!

The Darwinian Doctor
In this video post, I give you a look at the seriously beautiful mountains that ring Salt Lake City as I attended the Best Ever conference (BEC). The BEC is an annual real estate conference that brings together real estate investors, syndicators, and fundraisers. It was a great conference where I learned a ton of useful information about the current (and future) of apartment investing. Below, enjoy my first impression of of Salt Lake City.
After the Best Ever Conference, I took a red eye flight back to the East Coast, despite my promise to myself that I’d avoid these flights. Why did I do it? I actually cut out the explanation in the video, but it was for a college reunion. Enjoy!
